Description: This elegant prestige stool is special due to its size, being 4 to 7 inches taller than other examples. It is impressively carved from one piece of old growth tree with very tight grain. The beautiful hourglass form is achieved by creating vast negative space from the core. These stools were very labor intensive to carve and the artist couldn't make a mistake or its symmetry would be ruined. The eye is drawn to the tapered center, featuring bands of relief-carved ridges. The stool has dark sexy color and patina turning from a dark red to black. It has seen long use and the top is worn down to its textured grain. In great condition with no restoration. Some minor separations and fissures. Stools of this age and quality are very hard to find since they were made is small numbers.
Dimensions: Height 21.5” (54.5 cm), Width 13.5” (34.5 cm). Weight is 19lbs!
