SUPERB HIDE WRAPPED ZULU KNOBKERRIE WITH HOOF
Origin: Period/Date: late 19th- early 20th century Materials: Hardwood, hide, goat hoof, twine stitching Description: This wonderful knobkerrie club could easily be interpreted as a stylized human figure with arms (maybe even breasts). What's fascinating about its construction is that the hide covering was from the leg of a domestic Goat and while the hoof was removed the "dewclaws" were left in place. Its quite a lovely and delicate feature. Below the rounded head are a series of decorative turned grooves. These are subtle elements, yet culminate to make this one truly great stick! It has a wonderful honey-brown patina and is in excellent condition. The stand shown was borrowed from another object. A custom metal stand may be ordered for an additional fee. Dimensions: Height 34" (86.5 cm), Width 2.5" (6.5 cm) Reduced Price: $2400 Currency Conversion FREE SHIPPING When Using "Buy Now" Feature
