Origin: Southeast Australia, Victoria, Lower Murray River (Provenance: Tad Dale Santa Fe New Mexico, Previously in the collection of a retired anthropologist in Cortez Colorado) Period/Date: Mid 19th-Late 19th Century Materials: hardwood, spinifex resin, grass string, animal bone Description: This superb spear thrower of compact size is presented on a custom display stand. It features classic incised chevron motifs on the face and back as well as on the handle. It is in excellent condition retaining its original bone barb tip which is worn and well patinated from long use. It has acquired a warm honey-like patina especially on the handle.
