#16 CLASSIC ULA BALL HEAD CLUB W/ OLD LABEL

 

Origin: W. Polynesia, Fiji    (Provenance: Brant Mackley, Hummelstown, Pennsylvania)

Period/Date: Early 19th century

Materials: root of a shrub, I Ula Drisia

Description:  This Ula has a very heavily weighted dense head.  Its handgrip is quite worn and smooth to the touch.  It comes with an old attached handwritten label which reads: "Club used by Fiji Native.. Governor of Tonga.. Australian".

Dimensions:   Length 16.5"  (42 cm), Width 3.75"  (9.55 cm)
