Origin: Rwanda, Tutsi People (Provenance: Ex. Bryan Reeves, Tribal Gatherings London) Period/Date: Early to mid 20th century Materials: various plant fibers Description: These small plates "agakoko" would have been woven as a demonstration of skill and craftsmanship. They were offered as a gift at weddings and other special occasions. This group of seven features striking eye-dazzling patterns and are mounted on a custom display board (they can be easily removed it desired). They feature extremely fine and tight weaving and are a testimony to the vision and artistry of the Tutsi weaver. Note the delicate rimmed boarder with tiny stitches. Condition is excellent.
