LARGE 19TH C. STONE-CARVED QUEENSLAND BOOMERANG
Origin: S. Australia East of Lake Eyre, likely Coopers Creek area (Corner of where Queensland and New South Wales meet) (Provenance: From a private Australian Collection) Period/Date: late 19th century Materials: hardwood Description: This fine quality boomerang was cut with non-metal tools and is presented on a custom metal stand. It has gentle curvature featuring classic incised patterns on its face. Its reverse side has tight fluted grooves. Other than normal wear and use it has no cracks, damage or restoration which is amazing for a piece this old. It has rich a reddish-brown color and has acquired a dark varied patina from age and use.
