NORTHWEST COAST NOOTKA MASK

Origin:   British Columbia, Vancouver Island, Nootka People  (Provenance: Ex. Skinners Boston, approx. 2006.  Ex. Taylor Dale, Santa Fe New Mexico.  Originally owned by a long time collector of tribal masks named Garrett West)

Period/Date:  circa 1900-1910

Materials:  Wood (likely red Cedar), Polychrome Paint

Dimensions:  Height 10.25" (26 cm),  Width 6.4"  (16.25 cm) 

Description:  This mask is much older than it may look.  It is in excellent condition with some light scuffs and minor wear.  Very old tag on the back reads "10" in black ink.  Northwest coast masks of this quality and vintage are now very scarce and sought after.
