Origin: Northeast India, Konyak Tribe (Provenance: Newly acquired from an old collection of Tribal Jewelry in Cedar Falls Iowa assembled in the 1950's) Period/Date: 19th Century Materials: beads: (assorted old glass beads, crystal, lapis, turquoise), brass, fiber and shell Description: Here's a superb quality necklace with brass spacers. It features ancient and rare beads of which are 200-300 years old. Note the color, wear and patina on the beads! This is the oldest and finest necklace of its type we've had. This necklace would have been an important heirloom piece of great prestige and value which was worn and handed down to consecutive generations. It is in excellent condition. The shell toggle closure, although original, has been mended (reattached) with a non-native cord. Presented on a black velvet display stand.
