A STUNNING NAGA HAT 

Origin: Northeast India, Naga people, Likely Konyak tribe     (Provenance: Ex. Julian Jacobs Collection, England, Author of "The Nagas" Hill People of Northeast India)

Period/Date:  Early 20th Century

Materials:  Rattan, red dyed Goat hair, Red and Yellow Pigments, black yarn, and bark stem

Dimensions:   Height 20.5" (52 cm),  Width 14"  (36 cm) 

Description:   Here's a classic flamboyant basketry hat which is my last one from Jacob's collection.   Although this particular hat is not published, a related example can be seen on page 225 of "The Nagas" by Julian Jacobs, copyright 1990.  Good condition presented on a metal display stand.
