GROUPING OF MOSSI FIGURES AND KNIVES

Period/Date:  Likely Mid 20th century, possibly older

Materials:  Wood and Iron

Dimensions:  From left to right Dolls: 11.5" (29.3 cm),  8 7/8"  (22.5 cm), knives: 8 3/8" (21.5 cm), 10.25 (26 cm)

Description:  Here's a fascinating grouping of Mossi objects comprising two figures with parted legs (the one on the right is likely a catapult) and two knives (each having a custom metal base).  The figures feature detailed scarification on their bodies.  The two knives are fairly rare and are joined with what appears to be aluminum pins through the base of the handles.  The larger knife has a sensitive and expressively carved face.  The smaller knife may have been used for circumcisions?  All are in good condition yet have some minor scratches and or old hairline cracks.
