Origin: Polynesian, New Zealand Maori People (Provenance: Ex. Raymond Handley collection, San Francisco (pervious owner of Folk Art International, once located in the Frank Lloyd Wright building at 140 Maiden Lane) Period/Date: Late 18th to early 19th century Materials: dense reddish hardwood Description: Although damaged in combat, this example has a thin elegant head and shows beautiful rippling on the shaft as well as the head.
