SUPERB KUBA COPPER PRESTIGE KNIFE W/ INLAY 

Origin:  C. Africa, Democratic Rep. of Congo, Kuba People (Provenance: Acquired from an old collection in Ghent Belgium)

Description:  A superb 19th to early 20th century prestige knife with a copper blade (presented on a custom metal stand). Examples in copper such as this are rare and were held in high esteem.  The wood handle is intricately decorated with small pieces of lead inlay.  In excellent condition.  The classic blade is finely worked with etched decoration and pierced holes.  A related example, in brass, can be seen on page 177 of "African Forms" by Ginzberg, Copyright 2000.
