19TH C. JAPANESE MIXED METAL ONI DEMON PAGE TURNER

Period/Date: circa 1880, Meiji period

Materials:  Brass, copper, gold gilding

Description:  This extremely well detailed example has a gilded copper handle in the form of an "oni" demon bearing a "koro".  The craftsmanship is stellar!  The blade is also finely engraved with a dragon.  It was used as a page turner and letter opener.   The overall condition is excellent with some minor nicks and rubbing.  The blade has some play to it.  Presented on a custom metal display stand.
