SOUTH AFRICAN RHINO HORN FLYWHISK W/ INLAY
Origin: South African or Zimbabwe (Provenance: Ex. Ralph Nash London. One of the most important dealers of the 20th century. Previously in an old New York City Collection) Period/Date: Late 19th- Early 20th C. Materials: Animal Hair, Horn, rope, silver or tin Description: This gorgeous flywhisk is adorned with a segmented horn handle which I strongly believe to be Rhinoceros based on the color and tight grain. The butt of the handle is embellished with lengths of silver inlay in a geometric motif! In good condition with some minor hairline age cracks. There are some chips around the rim of the dark spacer at the base of the hair. Dimensions: Overall Length w/ hair 19.75" (50 cm), Width 1.25" (3 cm), Length of just handle 8" (20 cm) Price: SOLD
