CLASSIC 19TH C. FIJIAN "SALI" WAR CLUB

Origin:  W. Polynesia, Fiji  (Provenance: Ex. Serge Schoffel- Brussels, Old European Collections)

Period/Date:  Likely Early 19th Century

Materials: Hardwood

Description:  Here's a handsome example of a Fijian "sali" war club.  It is very heavy and well balanced with rich color.  Judging from the wear and smoothness of the surface this club has significant age and is imbued with "mana".   It is in very good condition and its spur is intact.  So often this region is broken or restored on many other clubs.  It has some minor old chips and tiny dings as would be expected on a used weapon of this vintage.   Presented on a custom metal stand.

Dimensions:   Length 41"  (104 cm), Width 10"  (25.5 cm)
