SCARCE FANG WOVEN RAFFIA BABY CARRIER IN PRISTINE CONDITION

 

Origin:  West Central Africa, Equatorial Guinea     (Provenance:  This is one of a dozen Fang objects we acquired from the collection of Christopher Wild.  Mr. Wild is a British collector living in Notre-Dame-du-Hamel, France.  The Gabon collection was purchased years ago from noted Arms and Armor dealer Michael D. Long Ltd. in Leicester UK who initially uncovered the collection in the countryside.)

Period/Date: At least early 20th C., possibly older

Materials: raffia, bark, twine

Description:  Here's a beautifully woven specimen of a rare surviving baby carrier.  Gorgeous form and in excellent condition!
