FINE PHILIPPINE MALE FOOD SPOON W/ DERRIERE FOCUS
Origin: Northern Luzon, Hapao area (Provenance: Recently found in an old Mid West collection) Period/Date: 19th- Early 20th Century Materials: Hardwood Description: This lovely refined spoon is presented on a custom bronze display base. It has several distinguishing features which make it special. The wood has acquired a gorgeous color from use and looks like a fine piece of furniture. The artist took the time to intentionally create an "Adam's Apple" on its neck which I don't recall seeing before on a Philippine spoon. Above all, the focal point of the spoon is the back side! It has the classic oversized flaring calf mussels and defined shoulder blades. But most noteworthy, the buttocks is so precisely formed being tight and rounded, making it a focal point overall. In excellent condition having a rich untouched patina. Dimensions: Height 7.5" (19.5 cm), Width 3 3/8" (6 cm) Price: SOLD
