BATAK SHAMAN'S MEDICINE HORN
Origin: Indonesia, Sumatra, Toba Batak People (Provenance: Acquired from an old collection in Amsterdam) Period/Date: At least early 20th century, possibly older Materials: Buffalo Horn, Wood Description: This medicine horn "naga morsarang" would be considered one of the more simplistic examples relative to elaborate ones often seen. Authenticity is guaranteed. These were among the most important ritual paraphernalia of the "datu" priest. It features a well executed relief-carved stylized lizard toward the end of the spout and a human face at the opposite end. The wooden "singa" stopper is clearly very old and well patinated, however, I would not rule out that it is a replacement piece? In good condition and presented on a custom metal display stand. Dimensions: Length 13" (33 cm), Width 4.5" (11.5 cm) Price: $2200 Currency Conversion FREE SHIPPING With (Buy Now) Feature!
