FINE CAMEROON WOMAN'S BEADED CACH-SEXE APRON W/ DUAL PANELS

 

Origin: N. Cameroon or Chad, Mandara Mountains, Kirdi People or related group     (Provenance: Acquired from an old collection in Amsterdam, Netherlands)

Period/Date: Early to mid 20th century

Materials:  fiber, glass beads

Description:  This gorgeous apron has long lavish beaded fringe and features dual triangular panels.  When one flap is opened there is a "pocket" for personal items.   In very good condition and it doesn't appear to have ever been mended or reworked.  No plastic beads were used in its construction.

Dimensions:   Width (not including cord) 7.5"  (19 cm), height 9.4"  (24 cm), Overall width when opened 17.75" (45 cm)
